A week in the life of Eamon in Perth

This is a start again note after a long break of no posting any news for various reason. Having recently changing work responsibilities back to remote mine site management and everyday bringing something new due to the diversity of the business and the variety of task and people that you deal with. So i hope to be able to share some of my experiences and anecdotes , so that I have a record of all the events over the years.
This was short week as monday was queens birthday holiday in WA, nice to have a short week and long weekend. Spent the week in the office, except for Friday when I flew to the Pilbara and Nifty Copper mine that is one of my sites that I look after. It was a n early flight so had to be at airport by 5.ooam to check in , flight took of 6.00am, it was a two and half hour flight on a Brasillia, twin prop aircraft, not the most comfortable flights but better than walking or driving:)
Left Perth at 4 degrees and arrived there where it was reaching 35 degrees. Meetings with staff, clients, then back on the plane and into Perth by 6.00pm, home and dinner out to celebrate our meeting and first date 27 years ago in Rooiberg in South Africa.
Take care and Godbless

A new day in Perth 23 April

A new day , a new week , a good weekend was had by all. Beach was great, weather was even better, had rain and started cleaning gutters after the last down pour. Some dude driving up the street knocked over all the bins that were out for collection, I fortunately heard the commotion and righted our bin, however there were others further down the street that the bin man had to sort out in the morning so he was not impressed.
Footy tipping was good, still hanging in there.
Cricket is something to look forward to , semi final Aus vs SA on Tues night. I laid down the challenge at work saying the biggest upset of the tournament is about to happen as SA knock Aus over:) Lets hope so.
Anzac Day service on Wed, so I will watch cricket and then go to the service at North Beach for 6.00am
Spoke with Dan Applegate tonite in Rolla Missouri in the USA, it was his birthday and he is an old friend of ours from SA, good to catchup. Also spoke with my cousin Kate in Ireland last night, that was nice as I had not spoken with Kate probably since 1987, lots of writing.
Night all
Take care untill next time

another week in Perth

It is saturday and as I sit and ponder on the week that was it is a real pleasure not having to travel on planes anymore. Having to pack, rush to the airport , wait in queues, the inevitable security check . Then into the Qantas lounge for a quick cuppa before the flight gets called. It was always so routine it was boring. Week in week out the same thing, only just to remember where you were going, almost monotomous to an extent and in a rut. Once on the plane , and they took so long to load and get everyone in, pack em in they certainly do. I am sure they constantly move the seats closer to each other to get more bodies in.
They pack us in like sardines. Then the the long taxi to take off.
Once in the air out comes the most terrible breakfast that one could ever never wish for, hard to describe how a practicing trades person of his proffession could dish up the swill they serve. An absolute disgrace and waste of money.

Anyway no more of that it's great . My week was pretty good visited nearly everyone of my sites which was good had contact with most of my clients and staff which was good.
Then on Thursday I was in vited to play golf in a sponsered day, that was fun, we played Ambrose so it made it more intresting as I had not played for awhilejust as well as i was terrible, couple of good shots which helped our four ball.I really need new clubs, I still play with my original set of wilson x 31 and two wooden woods! that is a treat to see. A collegue Norm who I played with said your clubs are looking a little old try this Big Bertha , and big it was , well I teed off with this iron and I am sure the ball is still travelling:) I will definately be in the market for a new set.

This weekend starts off slowly today, we have a greens collection coming up so I must start in the garden, tree chopping , etc, so that will be today. Tomorrow we want to see the Abalone fisherman, so down early to watch them , watch this space for report back. Then we will go to the red bull air race which is down at the river, report on that as well.

Have a good weekend

Eamon in relaxed mode at the beach

A day down at the the sea, having our walk , enjoying the weather, blue skies and beautiful Indian Ocean. This shot was taken by Jacqui down at a beach called Marmion along the walk that we so often do together.
As the seasons change and we move well into spring the tides change, the sand starts to cover certain reefs and the surf is not has heavy as during the winter months. However we are still getting rain, which is good.
